01

Start with the decision you need to make

A sourcing fair helps a company compare makers, constructions and export capabilities. A retail fair shows how collections are merchandised and sold. A design fair builds relationships with interior designers, architects and premium brands. A hospitality event is useful for contract specifications, while a flooring fair connects specialist distributors and technical buyers.

Do not rank these events only by size. A smaller, tightly relevant fair can produce better meetings than a global show whose audience does not match the offer. Before booking, define whether the business needs a supplier, a product direction, a distributor, a retail account or a contract-design relationship.

02

Best for direct rug sourcing in India

India Carpet Expo in Bhadohi, scheduled for 4–7 October 2026, is the most rug-specific option on this list. Organised by the Carpet Export Promotion Council, it brings manufacturers and exporters of handmade carpets and floor coverings together with international buyers, importers, retailers, designers and sourcing professionals. It is particularly suitable for a new importer, Private Label brand or sourcing team that wants to compare Indian handmade-rug capabilities in a focused setting.

IHGF Delhi Fair, scheduled for 13–17 October 2026 in Greater Noida, is broader. Its categories include carpets, rugs, floor coverings, home furnishings, furniture, lighting and décor. It suits lifestyle retailers, concept stores, e-commerce brands and hospitality buyers who want to build a coordinated home collection rather than source rugs alone.

03

Best for European textile and retail markets

Heimtextil in Frankfurt, confirmed for 12–15 January 2027, is a major international platform for home and contract textiles and textile design. It is useful for importers, textile-led retailers, sourcing teams and businesses studying materials, trends, contract applications and international supply. It can be more relevant than a pure furniture show when rugs sit inside a wider textile assortment.

Maison&Objet in Paris, confirmed for 14–18 January 2027, is particularly valuable for design-led rug brands, premium lifestyle retailers and interior designers. It helps a new business study collection editing, visual presentation, price positioning and how rugs relate to furniture and decoration. Ambiente in Frankfurt, running 29 January–2 February 2027, is stronger for commercial home and consumer-goods distribution, including international retail chains, department stores and broad lifestyle assortments; its Global Sourcing offer is especially relevant to volume-oriented buyers.

04

Best for hospitality, architects and premium specification

HIX Europe in London, scheduled for 25–26 November 2026, is designed around hotel interiors. It is suitable for companies developing rugs for hotels, restaurants and hospitality projects and for meeting designers, operators, specifiers and procurement professionals. A supplier should arrive with contract-relevant specifications, custom-development capability and a clear explanation of testing and buyer-specific compliance support.

Salone del Mobile in Milan, confirmed for 13–18 April 2027, is the strongest design-positioning event in this selection. It brings together furniture, accessories, textiles, interior solutions and a global professional audience. It suits established design-led brands and companies seeking architects, premium retailers, furniture collaborators and contract opportunities. For a brand at the very beginning, visiting and networking may be more productive than exhibiting immediately.

05

Best for specialist carpet and flooring distribution

DOMOTEX in Hannover is aimed at the flooring and interior-finishing industry, making it especially relevant to carpet and flooring distributors, wholesalers, specialist retailers, technical buyers and established rug brands. Its next Hannover edition is confirmed for 17–20 January 2028; the organiser moved the show to a biennial cycle, so buyers should not plan for a Hannover edition in 2027.

The longer lead time can be useful. A new rug company can spend 2027 refining its assortment, gathering sales evidence, documenting product and pack data, and building appointments before approaching a specialist flooring audience.

06

Visit first, exhibit when the offer is ready

A first visit should answer practical questions: Which materials and constructions are overrepresented? Which price and design segments appear underserved? How do brands display sizes, fibres, care and origin? Which buyers attend, and are they looking for finished brands, Private Label development or White Label products? Record observations without copying another company’s designs.

Consider exhibiting only when the collection has a recognisable point of view, samples are consistent, export pricing and lead times are understood, packaging and labelling are resolved, and meetings can be booked before the fair. A stand without an outreach plan is expensive visibility; a focused calendar of relevant appointments is a commercial campaign.

07

Turn a fair visit into a sourcing brief

Before meeting a manufacturer, prepare target markets, buyer type, materials, constructions, sizes, intended use, design references, label languages, packaging, barcode requirements, testing needs and launch timing. Keep pricing and minimum quantities for a private commercial discussion rather than publishing them in a general brief.

After the fair, compare suppliers on development discipline, sample accuracy, production control, quality reporting, communication and export readiness—not only on the first product shown. Request a documented next step, such as a construction proposal, sample plan or packaging review, and agree who owns each approval.

08

Use an end-to-end partner to move from research to launch

S. Kapoor Enterprises is a third-generation B2B rug sourcing, manufacturing and export partner from Bhadohi, India, exporting since the 1980s. Its Bhadohi head office, two manufacturing facilities in Bhadohi and Delhi buyer and export office coordinate product development, sampling, production, QC, packaging, labelling, barcoding, photography and export handover for Private Label and White Label programmes.

SKE is a member of the Carpet Export Promotion Council and works with importers, retailers, sourcing teams and interior designers. Buyer-specific OEKO-TEX or GoodWeave requirements can be supported where applicable and requested; this is not a blanket certification claim. This article is an independent planning guide and does not state that SKE is exhibiting at any listed event.
